Point Lobos State Park, Big Sur California |
||||
| Located about 4 miles south of Carmel, Point Lobos is probably the most popular, well-known State park along the Big Sur coast. It's best to arrive early, between 9-10AM as they limit the number of cars into the park. A use fee is collected at the entrance and visitors are given a map showing the many trails within the park. The photos shown here are of the Cypress Grove Trail and the one most new visitors explore. If parking is a problem in this area, follow the road all the way to its end at the Bird Island trailhead. The Bird Island area is the second most popular series of trails in the park. But stop wherever you find parking as there are several shore access trails along the way. | ![]() |

Wild Light Wild nights -- wild nights! Were I with thee Wild nights would be our luxury! Futile the winds to a heart in port -- Done with the compass -- Done with the charts! Rowing in Eden -- ah, the sea! Might I but moor tonight in thee! -- Emily Dickinson |
